REMEMBERING KATHY

Katharine Joyce Richardson (Kathy) was born in Los Angeles, Ca on August 7, 1956 to Pastor J.R. Richardson and Zeora Bea Richardson. She accepted Christ at the early age of 8 years old at Greater Faith MBC. in Los Angeles, baptized by her own father, Pastor J.R. Richardson. While in Los Angeles, Kathy and family also joined Prosperity Baptist Church. At both churches she was very involved by singing in the choir, ushering, and becoming Sunday School Superintendent. In 1975 the Richardson family relocated to San Francisco, ca, where her father was called to pastor at the El Bethel MBC. this is where Kathy started her leadership journey in the church. She served as Youth Coordinator at El Bethel and secretary of the State Youth Convention. Kathy traveled all over spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

Kathy graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles Ca. She then attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Ca receiving her Bachelor Degree in Psychology. She furthered her education by receiving her Masters Degree at Biola University in La Mirada, Ca. She didn't stop there, she continued in a Doctorate Program, completing all courses and remained in Abd status. Kathy was a strong believer in assuring kids get a good education. She made sure her nieces and nephews were well educated. Every morning before school she would gather all her nieces and nephews at the huge dinner table at her parents’ house. She would first feed them a hearty breakfast then work with each one on all their school work and even more than what they were learning. She believed in no kid left behind.

Kathy worked as a Psychologist, Teacher, Student Affairs, Finance Administrator, Program Director, and Research Assistant. She participated in the redevelopment of businesses that were in jeopardy, by implementing new operational structures. She even rewrote company manuals. When she was asked to move to China as an Educator, she accepted the offer. While there for two years she taught English knowing how to speak their native language.

After two years she moved back to San Francisco where she reunited with Greater Faith MBC. she dedicated her life to being a missionary and caring out the great commission. Everywhere she went, she made sure that everyone had an opportunity to hear about Jesus. She was called to the homeless ministry and accepted it with no complaints. She would ride the bus all night long telling the homeless community how good Jesus is. She sacrificed her habitat, safety, and even health because this is what the Holy Ghost told her to do. Kathy did not as much as breathe, unless instructed by the Holy Ghost.
